What's your latest purchase?

Well, this isn't a purchase, but it's my latest acquisition: first Acrolite I've had my mitts on since high school in the late 80s, in a student kit gifted to me yesterday. Needs a little TLC but sounds pretty good today. Needs new snare wires, some soapy water & aluminum foil to remove rust & chrome pitting on the rims, and the muffler felt needs to be re-glued.

Should I sell it to a metal player, based on the serial number?

Do I need any particular glue to repair this, or will typical super glue suffice?

No matter how I wedge this section of the stand in its place, this corner of the... center plate (?) sticks up above the platform in the case where the drum rests. Is this normal? Am I doing it wrong?

Height adjustment wing nut is missing.

Cheap throwoff ($11 Amazon) as a temporary fix for a Black Panther snare. Crude but works.

Also got some 5/8" polyester grosgrain ribbon for attaching the snares ($2 for 18 ft. at Walmart). Easy to use and works fine but I wonder if it's as rugged as the cord.

Gibraltar replacement hoop for a 12" tom. The 2.3mm gauge is noticeably heavier than the original, which I guess must be 1.6mm. The tom is from a '90s Export set.

Congrats on getting that snare! I had a snare drum failure (story for another day) and my b/u snare was not appropriate for the impending gig. Popped onto to Craig's List and found a 1970 vintage Acrolite. The second I used it remember exactly what I love about them.... they have the exact right amount of dryness to the sound. It is now my main snare! I replaced the original wires and threw a coated ambassador on the top.

Fabric adhesive would work best. The super glue may react poorly with the felt over time.
Nice acro btw!

Thanks! I'll keep that mind if I have to reattach it, but as I posted here, I simply peeled it off its remaining...uh, stuck-ness and re-positioned it.

Just ordered a 20" Murat Diril Chameleon Crash Ride with two rivets... should be arriving here soon! I will update with pics once its arrived!

Nearly forgot, due to tinkering with the new Acro toy- I ordered 7 pair of new/old stock ProMark 808 oak nylon, now discontinued... Currently looking for the same in hickory, and also 707 oak and hickory, nylon tip.

For transporting my 2nd tier rehearsal kit cymbals more easily, I also picked up a Steve Weiss-branded (per the little red tag attached) "Liberty One" (says that nowhere on the bag) cymbal bag, which may be the best $20 cymbal bag on the market- decent padding, shoulder strap, hi-hat pocket. Not to jinx myself, but I haven't carried any cymbals yet, so I hope the strap or handles don't snap loose immediately. :LOL:PXL_20220131_234428382.jpg

I just bought a 2nd hand, Mapex black panther solid steel 3mm snare, with top and bottom 5mm control rings.
All in it's original case, with all the accessories, i.e drum key, cloth bag etc.
In really good condition for its age (2007) as only 300 were made worldwide, and about 60 were available here in the UK.

That's a real looker too. Sweet!

Looks like the batter hoop is reversed 180 degrees, but nice find and great price!
I saw that.
Gonna rehead the batter ,so I'll do it then.
That thing is so light!
