Why All Drummers Need a 14x8 Snare...

You weren't kiddin'. That DW Performance 14x8 sounds really good! The overtones are controlled and satisfying, with a nice bottom end.

It is now on my radar.

Since the DW and Supralites were mentioned, I have to point out that the Tama black steel 14x8 is a decent deal and a good sounding snare, too.

Me too. I love hearing about cool gear and the latest trends but my pile of snares currently does the trick.

I'm currently digging my Pearl Limited Edition 13x7 steel snare drum. If I HAD to buy a new snare, this is the size I'd be most interested in. Ironically, the one snare drum that's been getting the most use at band practice is a used $40 Pearl student snare drum. It's heavily muffled and is perfectly tweaked to that room. It's kinda ridiculous that I show up to practice carrying a $40 snare drum in a $100 case.
