This song just came out on Tuesday, but I was away in Iceland and whiffed the usual posting of links.
I also only have this footage of the initial rhythm tracking, which doesn't include vocal, piano, guitar, or guitar solo overdubs.
But it's a little insight into how I run my sessions these days.
This was the fourth or fifth take we did of this tune, and the second take that we tried with this uptempo Kenny Aronoff-Mellencamp-type driving straight-unaccented-8ths groove where the main driver in the choruses is the switch to a four-on-the-floor groove.
The whole live tracking thing allows us to try different time feels on the fly, so we can quickly and easily find the groove that works best for the song.
