Do you have a favourite kit ?

For those of us fortunate to have more than one kit , is one of them your favourite ? If so , which one is your favourite and why ?

My favourite kit is a Noble and Cooley Horizon kit . It is a shell bank , but the 24/13/16 configuration has rapidly become my favourite ( all my others have 20” bass drums ). Noble and Cooley has been on my radar since the late 80’s . I missed out on a couple kits over the years and finally purchased a Horizon kit in 2016 . I dally with other brands but N&C are always going to be my favourite drums .

Yolanda. Segmented black walnut shell bank. 10/12/13/14/16/18...22x16 and 20x12 bass drums and 14 x 7 snare

In my mind she's the best set of drums on planet earth.

I don't plan on buying any more drumsets in this lifetime.

Please Larry, don’t make me search for a picture of that stunner. Ad a pic here for the lazy folks like me.

My favorite kit is my 1970 Ludwig Downbeat. I have never played on a kit that sounded better.

Here's an old thread about it:

My favorite kit is my 1970 Ludwig Downbeat. I have never played on a kit that sounded better.

Here's an old thread about it:

My first kit ever (1984) was a white Ludwig Downbeat. For purely sentimental reasons, I'd have to say it was my favorite, though I've played nothing but Pearl since 1989. I sometimes wonder what became of my first Ludwig. Decades ago, I traded it in for some new Zildjian cymbals.

I don't have a pic that has the entire 9 drums set up as one kit. I'll make one later today.

Oh my gawd a 9 piece double bass Guru? Stuff of dreams Uncle Larry, stuff of dreams.

My favorite kit is either my first kit (Slingy Spirit 1000, ~1980 model), or my current kit, a Pearl Midtown. The Slingy has sentimentality attached to it. My sister now has it. The Pearl is just a blast to play. It comes prepackaged with fun.

My favourite kit is my 3 ply Ludwig 22x 16, 13x 9 and 16 x16 . It's not my "best" kit but it has sentimental value for me as I created it from orphan drums. It took me the best part of 12 months to locate the individual drums, strip and re wrap. Everytime I look at it I have a great sense of satisfaction. I might sell the other two I have but will never sell this one.

OK I guess I'll give you guys a thrill

Uncle Larry those pictures are stunning. Porn indeed! Please oh please channel your inner metal drummer and give them a good once-over for a bit. Oh my cheezits what I would do. Yolanda is gorgeous!

Very nice, very special. Thanks for posting!
Can you please post a bit about this throw-off? Is it an patented Andy design? I’ve never seen this kind before.

Thanks guys. I never photographed Yolanda all together like this.

I can't believe how great she looks too.

This is the reason no other drums can tempt me.

Tympanic bearing edges on the reso side of all the toms. No one even knows what they are lol.

And that's some high quality dark walnut there.

Believe me when I tell you that they sound as good as they look.

(tears coming to my eyes)

I'm dyin happy

Chris, that's a Sonor Dual Glide. Not a fan, way over engineered. It works fine, it's just too much heavy metal for such a simple task.

I was tempted to put my padauk snare in the pic too, that has an Andy strainer, damn.

I'll put up a few pics of the wonderful Guru strainer.

Extremely Fantastic Set Ace. Well Done..... While we're on a Walnut Binge, this set is not my one favourite but it is Special. All Orphans.. I should take them outdoors like Larry did to get nicer shots.
