How important is proper L/R sticking when using the Reed bible?

This probably depends on your application. When I got into that book, my teacher didn’t use it as a snare drum method book. He had me playing a jazz ride pattern, and either my snare hand or bass drum foot was reading the figures as if I were playing big band horn phrases.
I would think though, if you applied it to your hands, seeing R L R L for every note, everywhere you didn’t play, you’d proceed to the next hand where the note was played.
