13x6 Maple
my homebuilt stave kit; swamp ash + tung oil.
Hi,
Really nice drums, here! I got my self a nice shell too for a freefloater. This is the hardest wood there is, its got many names but maybe Ipe is the one to use.
I put a wax on it and rubbed with some 'metal fiber' dont know how to call it in english. Polish is not too shiny.

Posted elsewhere too, but it belongs here 13" x 4". This one's going to a special customer in the USA. Bubinga stave with maple highlights, bubinga segmented hoops. The shell bubinga and the hoop bubinga are taken from the same board. The shell is taken from the inner heartwood, so it's dense. The hoops are taken from the outer heartwood (not sapwood) so they're less dense. This was deliberate to take some mass out of the hoops. Hard wax finished & buffed.
Here's my new 13x7 jarrah stave snare with black nickel hardware and trick strainer from "Red Rock Drums" in Melbourne .
My handy-work. It's a 14 x 6 Bubinga Stave Shell.
BRADY 14 x 6.5 Spalted Marri (Corymbia Calophylla) snare drum in a natural gloss finish. Enjoy!
