Riddle me this, drummerworld, (Gruntersdad may be the king of this info)
A potentially vintage Gretsch Bass Drum.
Here is a list of specs, does this fit?
Silver sealer, not newly applied
6 ply, but 7mm thick (my USA custom bass 22" from late 70's/ early 80's mixed badge kit is 6 ply, 6mm)
Ply pattern outside to in is: light wood, dark, light, dark, dark, light.
No label
No badge
Re wrapped, but can see from the ends of the wrap, there's old glue, over black paint
Bearing edge, re-cut so no soft ends
Jimmy Pratt holes, bottom 11/16" from lip, top 2 and 5/8" from lip.
Downsides, and oddities;
This is where it gets weird, around the centre of the drum there are refilled holes consistent with centrally placed two sided lugs that fit the two sided bullet lugs I have for a dixieland snare. Re drilled for single side bullet lugs.
So what do I have?
I wonder if it's an old student model bass drum converted.
