I play a lot of different styles and write fairly Avant-Garde music so I have quite a diverse set of influences,
I guess the most influential drummer would have to be Louie Bellson, he inspired me to pick up a kit in the first place.
Nicky Bomba is a local drummer I really admire, I loved his work on Sunrise Over Sea by the John Butler Trio.
On the heavier side of things, Martin Lopez of Opeth, Sean Reinert of Cynic/Death and Johan Hallgren (ex-Pain of Salvation), all of them proved to me that metal drumming doesn't have to be "extreme" and that while metal is signifcantly denser then a lot of music there is still a place for texture.

viv prince from the pretty things...definitly a huge influence on me...nice rythmic breakups and solid lightning quick jazz fills in an r&b setting..but with a surf rock sound
and cindy blackman....her playing is soooo energized.like she puts all that pent up jazz chop rage into a simple 2-4 beat with lenny.
my friend bam bam from j.f.a. is a huge influence...he is like the ozzy of drummers
Actually mostly local guys ... but then again this is Memphis
and you can't throw a dead cat in any direction
without hitting a badd azz drummer or two.
A few of the great local cats ...
W.C. Garrison (My rhythm secion partner for the last five years)
Dennis Falanga (My current rhythm section partner)
Ron Perrone Jr. (Ex of The Dempseys)
Rodd Bland (Bobby Blue Blands son)
Pee Wee Jackson (You see him on MyCymbal sometimes)
Big Harry Peel (THE master of using just a kick and snare)
