It's all taste and a little bit about the music you're playing, too.

Filling up my shellbank I want them all, really. There's no default, but I don't mind a 10". Just depends what you're going for.

My kit is usually 2 up 2 down. I prefer 10 & 12. I like a relatively wide interval between toms, particularly between my largest rack tom (12) and floor tom.
