View attachment 127058Secondhand. Getting used to it. I tried a bunch in the store: Iron Cobra, DW 9000 and 5000, a Sonor and a Yamaha. I really liked the Tama and the DWs, but kept coming back to this one...
Yes, finally, Musician friends found a way for me to order it, it's on its way, i know a guy here, who take pictures for a living, who will be really happy to see me getting the same rack" Proline Utility Snare Rack. I could put 8 snares on it, normal size, maybe 3 only if one of them is a 7" or 8" deep but the 8" that I currently have is on the kit so, with my 12 Snares, 4 on the kit and 8 on the rack, rack already fully filled in!!!
When it will arrive, I will take some pictures with the Snares.
I am going to guess it’s a drum key combined with a snare muffler, so you can put they key on a tension rod and if it is oriented the right way it will also muffle.
Correct. Has a small pocket so you can add more weight if wanted. Was cheaper that snare weight. Not a big fan of the wallet trick. View attachment 127204
For an even more noticeable improvement, ditch that batter head that sucks the tone out of any drum. I make this suggestion with respect and all of Ringo’s peace and love.
I found that head to be good dead feeling under the stick. Went with the control ring instead of the dot. It definitely controlled some of the liveliness without sacrificing feel.
Two 3 packs of 10/12/14 Remo Vintage Emporer coated heads.
They were out of stock for a while, and I tried Evans G2's as a substitute,
but I like the Remos better.
I should be set for a while now.
Tried a Remo pinstripe on my 80s Yamaha tour 13. It sounds great. It came new with one but I switched to Evans in the late 90s pinstripes were very inconsistent then.
New heads for my Gretsch rig. Going to try coated vintage Ambassadors over clear.
I love what coated Ambassadors did for my DW maple set and figure that the vintage variety will work well with the Renowns. The resos on the Renowns are the original factory heads from 2020 so they're due for a change.
Looking forward to the refresh. Lots of work ahead first!
