What's your latest purchase?

19 Paiste Rude crash ride from Drum center of Portsmouth. Should be getting it in about a week.
I've been eyeing the 19" Thin version for a while now. There's something magical about 19" Rude models

I've recently purchased a new headphone amp to use for in ear monitoring:
ZEN CAN Studio

I saw that its a newer option on the market but it sounds great and I love the mono L/R function. I read up on it vs other options and I wanted something that had the power necessary for my headphones in the studio and IEM's live without pushing the amp to its limit.

I spotted a set of these in a studio I used recently and they had them threaded onto microphone stands so it sits nicely next to you.

You can use it as a monitor controller too, so I've been using it with my speaker set up at home too.

Never heard of it But I know ti makes a great difference, I was using my normal headphone out of the Tascam LM-8T 1U mixer to hear my keys but I tried the Radial MC3 that I have in the Den/Studio and it a big difference, I don't know how the zen compare to the Radial but I trust you when you say it's a super nice and clear sound.

Already posted on '"Show off your snare": Ok, as usual, I buy, I post a deposit and then, i look for the rest of the money to pay for it, so, it arrives sometimes with some delay, but here it is, even better in real and the tone of the shell is super pure, you don't even want to put dampening on it.

Well, you remember the Paiste Twenties Hats in 13"...I had an idea to try to make them permanently on the kit, well, you know, I have aledy the Meinl Foundry Reserve on the Pearl RH2050 remote hat, why not this one...
I found a Pearl remote hats stand used but well, very good shape, so, I remove the Sabian Complex Splash 10" that was on the left side of the hats and I found a nice spot for the 13" Hats:

So, I also have 3 pedals but they are NO kick ones, just hi hats pedals and you can play them together, 2 by 2, super funny.

I would say, with the stack and the 3 snares, each snare has its own hat!!

Recently picked up this 14x6.5 Canopus 5mm cast aluminum snare which are no longer available for purchase through Canopus. This one was built in 2002 and has many scuffs and bruises from its years of use. It sounds absolutely incredible though! I really didn't expect another snare to rival the sensitivity of my Ahead titanium but you can blow on this thing and the snares trigger. I also have a Zelkova on the way and am mulling over a cast bronze to join my bell brass. It's been a fun adventure tracking down these discontinued gems.View attachment 135368
oooh! that's nice. Gotta sound so good that thing. congrats!

OK, not drum purchase but designed and bought for the practice place where the drums are. it was a project that I had for a long time with Diffusers City to finish the basement to put a long and large one in lieu f the wood surf baord (That was not really a diffuser) to bring back a little highs in the practice place (Not that is lack but it's not the same as when I am behind the kit) and a scone large square ie to put onthe left side of the dampening bass trap that is in the left corner (ther eis already one on the right side of the corner.

So, this corner is in front of the drum kit, on the opposite side, it's a corridor so, the low ends and waves cannot build up too much. As soon as the second one is done, picture attached, I will post them both in situ (Do you use In Situ in English? It's latin and means "On the spot, at the place, let me know...I tend to say Idem instead of Ditto...).

Link for the small movie for the large one:

So, this one, will be in lieu of the guitar...or maybe i could still have the guitar in front of it? i will see...How my wife like it...

BE AWARE, NOT SEXY PHOTOS, SORRY, BUT LAST PURCHASE TOO:

Ok, again, still not pure drums but allows me to set up again the Den as the mixing studio with two screens. Ok, I had asked if a ultra wide curved monitor was worthy but my wife came back with a screen form free given by her job so, I found for cheap on Amazon two arms and set them up. It works the way I want, close to me when I work on details on the tracks or when I wait for calls (Ok, I can learn cubase now, I have the big 3" thick manula printed for years - Cubase 7 - and I could do it while "playing" with it.

Then, it will be again the mixing room while the basement will be the practice and recording room, I found a Cubase 7 for 150 $ so, I have another key to use both at the same time, one is in the basement on the iMac 21" 2012 and one on the Mac Mini Late 2012. So easy to transfer file, I might even have a cable to go form one to the rother instead of sending files etc...Ok using USB Key

So, Photo 1 is the arms:

Photo 2 is the UAD Duo 2, the hard disk drive form Universal Audio that I had for free years ago when I bought the UA LA610 mk2 preamp. I put the mac on top of it now and not under it, better to cool it down...
IMG_7483.JPEG

Photo 3 is the two screens and my work screen:
IMG_7476.JPEG

Photo 4 et 5 are the two screens only towards me. Not that the units in the rack under them are still accessible but they are lower than on the second top tier so, better for my neck. Just need a special chair with a footrest and the ability to be a bit higher than now and I will have the ears at the level of the tweeters of the monitors.

IMG_7489.JPEG

Photo 5 to 7 are when I mix, they are far away and behind the monitors:

Before today, this room was just when I had finished to build the studio with all connections on patchbay (See photo 8) and computer plus ipad and iphone from my job...Then, one week after that, they didn't renew my contract and told me that well, I was laid off...So, no more computers, I Kept the Ipad tough, it was on training funds:
IMG_0700.JPG

Then I left for Cold lake and l played live only. It was in 2013...the Den/Studio was then the desk for my wife...it took me quite some "good . discussions to have her letting me use the basement as practice and the Den as mixing again...10 years more focused on live than recording, back to think about recording due to covid but now back again to live shows...Ok, when i will be too old to gig, I could always spend more time in front of a computer for sure...

Pfuu, took me awhile to come back to what is was before, see photos 9:
D2X_6585.JPG

So, the purchase are the arms and some adaptors HDMI and Thunderbolt to VGA.

Ok, I apologize, the desk was not cleaned when I took the picture and yes, we had a thread on non sexy purchase, this is one but very practical in fact.

By the way, on this side of the room in the Den (And on the opposite side as well), there will be some diffusers as well, last built started in 2021!!
DSC_0001_DxO.jpg
Wall A Bloomington (1).jpg
Wall B Asheville (1).jpg

And it should be like this at the end, plus the diffusers:
D2X_6581.jpg

And less the keys, they are in the basement now, unless I buy a Stage 4 or a Stage Grand to practice on the best Keybed Nord has, it's a Kawai keybed. So, basement electronic, Den mixing and composing and Classical and jazz Practicing...I can't wait to when I will be retired, so many things to do!!!

So, the small diffusers in The Den are the last purchase, they just need to be done, the guy stopped his activity to do something else but as I stared both project with him two years ago, he will finish them for me...Nice Guy.

Who said I'm talkative!!

Found a 19" Paiste Big Beat today.

Ooooooh!!! Noice!

Pasite 2002? Old? because there is so much hammering and lathering on it, I might try one, I have laways thought they were too harsh for my ears...But the look is awesome!

A near new 2002 Big Beat. (I purchased 2nd Hand yesterday from a drummer who use them live twice).

I took that photo with the room light reflecting. That's why it looks like that.
The cymbal without the reflection is still an awesome piece of mechanical hand hammering and lathing however.
(and it sound beautiful for B8 alloy. Paiste really do know how to do B8 nicely).
