What can I use as a drum cover that I could get from Walmart or Lowes? Time sensitive! Go!

We play a lot of outdoor gigs and had the same dilemma recently as it rains with very little warning here. Was searching the house and came across some cheap plastic ponchos we had stashed away and they are perfect. The head part goes over a cymbal and holds it in place and the rest is surprisingly spacious and covers the kit. Put 2 on for good measure. Keep meaning to get a proper cover but these fold up really small and do a great job.

I went to a local store where they sell sheets to make curtains etc and i bought what i needed and my wife sew some elastic band on the edges and thats what i use

Playing lots of outdoor gigs it didn't take me long to realize that a tarp from Menards is as as a necessity as 5B's. Not only from the obvious but major wind gusts as well.

Drum Cover?.....lets see.......well you could cover "Born to be Wild"...or something more modern like...say...like "Brick House"
whatever you are..........wait.....Oh I see.....not THAT kind of cover.
Great selection of ideas for "The Covering" guys.

I wouldn't want anything too heavy.
Wait Are you still at Walmart?

I'd imagine that a tarp may be a bit heavy PPG.

I don't know how you could get the material on its own........but the material used on hiking tents would be ideal.

It's really light, waterproof and breathable.

But yeah, not easily obtainable on its own and possibly expensive.

A king sized sheet would be light and cheap.

Fast and in a pinch ? Light and waterproof ?
Only lowes and Walmart ? Is wind a factor ? Not positive what specific application you need but for waterproof and light unlike tarps that can be heavy and whatnot , you could grab one or two cheap plain shower curtains . Should be fairly cheap come in different colors and shed any precipitation.

Large king sized sheet of your color choice with painters sheeting under for precipitation

Shower curtains . Some are a light nylon-y type material . Fairly cheap lowes and Walmart should stock a few color options

Update: I ended up buying a king-sized black bedsheet flat sheet from Walmart. It did pretty well.
This is like a last minute condom recommendation, invest a little to save a lot.

I’d get this for next time, you post a lot of outdoor gigs…protect the wiggies

I already have it in my Amazon cart. :)

I might be a little late, but a King or Queen size comforter works great. You can find them at your local thrift store. They are thick enough to protect from heat and UV but are easy to fold and transport. They also add some weight to the kit, so if they are outside, the comfortor won't blow off and it will help keep cymbal stands from blowing over better than a sheet. They also don't encourage condensation like tarps can. Just an idea. I always put a comforter over my kit when it was at my practice space right in front of a south facing window. The comforter faded over time, the drums did not.

Problem solved I see :)

What I like about the Maloney cover is that 1) it is reflective so your gear won't bake in the sun, I would think a shower curtain would be like being in a hot car without windows, not good 2) water proof 3) it has weighted corners...I can just imagine a gust of wind blowing down cymbal stands with a sheet or shower curtain. Plus the weighted corners make it easier to fold up plus the rope holes if needed. It's available on Amazon as well :)
