I'm not sure about that one, maybe someone else can chime in. The price point looks low, and I don't think you'll need all the knobs if you are using a DAW. Here's the presonus:

The trick for drums is that you need a lot of inputs for all the mikes.
Regarding DAW, Audacity is not considered a full featured DAW. If you want free, Cakewalk is one people like. Here's a list I found:

You've probably heard of Protools, which is like the Photoshop of DAWs. I personally have heard people speak favorably of Ableton, Studio One, Cakewalk, Cubase, and Reaper. So there are lots of choices.
