How to practice playing fast

Every aspect of drumming (if you want to get better) needs some sort of control..

Everything in life you want to get better at, needs some sort of control..

Kinda obvious and why on earth would you need years to realise that..?

But having control (whatever that may be) is not at all a guarantee for getting speed..

For example, i would say that Porcaro had a lot of control, but not too much speed..

Thats just an example of a drummer, but there are many more examples to give regarding this..

Porcaro had great feel and coordination. He did not have amazing stick control.
