How many issues of M.D. do you own.

I'm pretty close to having all but maybe a dozen or so. Do you ever go back and reread articles from a decade ago. Do you possibly have a favorite. Ever had a question published...ever sold a drum through MD. Any favorite drumshops you've known from advertising. Favorite interviews from Drumhead..Drum..or Modern Drummer. Do you miss picking your issue up at Barnes&Noble. I could go on and on but. 😃.

I lived in a rather isolated community when first getting into all this. Other than a particularly devoted school
band program director ( thank you SO much Derry Addison!🎷) and my favourite albums, Modern Drummer was my main connection to all things drumming. Wound up with over a hundred issues. And several copies of the magazine as well🙃

some, Books, magazines, CD's...
all rendered obsolete by the internet

I had every issue from 1986 through the first part of the pandemic. Things began to go south in 2020 whereby I was getting an issue every 4 or 5 months and then not at all despite being a subscriber. To be honest, the quality was going down hill long before the pandemic. Although I enjoyed reading back issues from the late 80s and 90s, I decided it was time to let my subscription lapse and let them go of my collection. I sold the entire collection on Craigslist and haven't looked back.

I know and.. a Library ain't cheap! and needs dusted!
How about I have various car magazines beginning in 1967 up to this month..and one or two from 1954!!

It's just so sad what to do with them. : )
Should I just be content (that) all the written word and photographic memory is in my head? Maybe so.

Hope springs eternal

I used to own decades of them... From inception through approx. 2000 as a subscriber. I would then occasionally pick them up in local shops/stores. I got rid of every single issue. Too heavy to move around and too much space to store.

However, I did get a digital subscription and now have every single issue since inception on my tablet in digital form.

Believe it or not, I went back to issue one and have been going through the years one issue at a time reading almost all of the content, cover to cover. I can totally see why I used to love the magazine. So much learning in my early years came from these.

What has inspired me this time around more than almost anything are the columns that Roy Burns used to have called 'Concepts'.

I am reliving my youth re-reading them. Fascinating timeline of history going back to issue 1 and moving forward in matter of weeks and not months. Not just technology, but people as well.

Does issue one have Herb Lovell..Grady Tate etc on the cover?.

Officially I have 138 printed issues starting from 1986 . . . . . but who's counting?

To this day I often go back to reference specific articles and the gear drummers used in that time frame.

The greatest benefit back in the day (pre-internet) was the exposure to gear that I likely might not have ever heard of otherwise: in particular Noble & Cooley, SOTA, Select, Legend, Montineri, Stone Custom to name a few as well as hardware innovations and new accessories.

Don't remember the month or year but I've got the issue with Chris Whitten playing his N&Cs with Mcartney. His dark crew cut hair doing his thing.

I have boxes and boxes of them, nowhere near complete. A source of great joy back in the day. It was a trip through wonderland, and yes, I do grab an old one every now and then.

I opted for Drumhead magazine after reviewing several different mags in a drum shop.

But I don’t keep magazines cuz I used to move 2x per year for a couple decades.

Only one that's important....

I have that one sans autograph...

i had a sub from 1982 to 2008ish, so roughly 312 copies.

They all live in waterproof tubs in the basement right now. When I get my own officem, they will come out again!!!

I had a couple of years worth. They "disappeared" during the divorce.

I used to have a lot more but I thinned them to my favorites. Sold a few.
The one on top was the first issue I ever bought as a teenager. I had no idea who the guy on the cover was.
