Poet T.S. Elliot, in an essay on literary theory, coins the term "objective correlative." It denotes a recurring narrative device (i.e., a symbol or chain of events) formulated to elicit specific responses from readers, whether positive or negative. The Stage Custom has become the forum's official objective correlative. It's both an effortless means of garnering attention and a pernicious method of subverting discussions. The ensuing tug of war is mind-numbing in its unfailing repetition, but the call of conflict draws spectators to the inferno. Love or hate it, the Stage Custom is a powerful stimulus.
I have no opinion of the Stage Custom itself. I've never played one, not even in a house or backline format. That I know so much about the product is bizarre.
