Thought I tell about my recent purchase with my opinion and very slight modification. This is fairly light and functions well. I've used it on 2 gigs and it feels smooth and operates quietly. The spring tension is not as strong when adjusted to its highest level as some others I've owned but it was enough for my old 15" heavy Zildjians. The clutch is a standard no frills clutch but works well. One thing I like is the memory lock uses a wing nut not a drum key, more handy. I didn't like the spikes at a 90* angle so I bent them forward a little with a crescent wrench. See pics Very easy to do or undo. All in all I think I'll like this stand.

I have the older Gib flat-based hi-hat stand, the linkage and footboard are totally different. That's a great pro tip on bending the vampire teeth spikes, I may do that too.

I have the same Gibraltar HH Stand. I like it a lot! Pretty small footprint and does feel smooth. I just took the spike attachment off completely (It's removeable) and went with a piece of Velcro on the end of the heel plate instead. Holds tight!

Enjoy your purchase!

I have velcro on a electronic pedal and it drives me crazy, it sticks too good lol. Velcro's a good idea also.
