Def Leppard Drummer Rick Allen Attacked at Florida Hotel

The scary thing about these scenarios is that the perpetrator, at some point in their mindset, thought that this was a good idea.

It's a good thing he's in custody........the band would have ripped him apart.

Never piss off an Englishman.

A lesson for us all. We live in a dangerous world and you never know when you might be attacked. Stay prepared and have a plan.

That’s surreal! He was either on some serious drugs or is severely mentally ill. Even if Rick had a pair of drumsticks in his back pocket, he probably didn’t have a chance to whip one out and smack that guy across the head when he attacked him.

Can’t say I’m shocked, just add to the ever growing ‘man from Florida…’ list.

Exactly!! Personally, I'd love to see bands....and many businesses, boycott the state.

Yep.

If he was rolled from behind, you gotta wonder what the hell he could have done.

Go out in pairs maybe.

Not much he could have done differently. The guy only has one arm. Very difficult to defend yourself (even with two arms) when someone attacks you out of the blue.

Fortunately, they caught the guy. Rick and the band have the resources to pursue the accused in both criminal and civil court. They will likely make his life exceedingly miserable for this huge error in judgment. I wish them the best.

His left arm would be incredibly powerful.

If he was able to connect with the face, he'd be toast.

Why?........why?.........why do people have to do these things you know?

It's just heartbreaking.

I understand that there's usually a mental health issue going on.

But it can be difficult to sympathise and understand these actions.

Understanding, sympathy, empathy, patience are not inexhaustible qualities.

At least the guy didn't coward punch him (probably what would have happened if this was in Oz)

@GretschedHive posted:
-Florida has the strongest public record laws in the United States. This means that all crime data and reports are very transparent. This makes it very easy for journalists to access records and make a story out of it. And voila…you have multiple “Florida Man” stories for each day of the year.

Second, being an investigator across multiple sectors, I can attest there’s a lot of bizarre crimes happening everywhere in the United States. Other states have much less transparent public record laws though.-

THAT...is now on the chopping block there...because...

He posted bail...His lawyer stating how "he's just a sweet boy who's never been in trouble".
Most likely gonna go for the "Affluenza" defense I would bet...it has worked before...because...

We had a spate of them here in Perth, they are getting less and less now thank goodness.

Danny Green became a big advocate to employ harsher sentences against perpetrators.....bless him.

I don't condone what the teen boy did but I struggle to feel sorry for a guy like Rick Allen. Not after what he did to his poor ex-wife.
