David Lee Roth residency in Vegas

No, not a surgical residency. Though I'm guessing him doing a surgical residency wouldn't have been as bad as this:

It it absolutely pains me to see this having grown up with listening to, played (covered), and loved Van Halen's songs.

edited for grammar.

Well, I made it 52 seconds and had to stop. What a tragedy.

Oh good lord, I managed 1:18
Lee Bro, my first introduction to Van Halen was in 1979, Running With The Devil played on a “ghetto blaster” one dark starry night by a couple of lads a few years older than me on top of a Spanish apartment building while on summer holiday. It stuck with me! Just the other day I was listening to Women And Children First at home, last night I chanced across A Different Kind Of Truth on the SD card in my car. Even on that album he was at least not attempting to hit notes he knew he wouldn’t be able to make. But this :-( He was the ultimate Golden God frontman and in his day one hell of a singer. As if the singing voice wasn’t bad enough he’s now a bag of facial ticks and mugging. Really sad.

Good lord that is rough to watch and listen to.
I too could only endure just a minute or two.

When is the LIVE album coming out?

I was thinking he's about my age seems to be "OK"-at first. What happened to his voice-Sammy Hagar is in his 70s and still sings well. Rod Stewart is about Hagar's age and still sings well-just sings crappy songs LOL. Heck Tom Jones is about 80 and still knocks peoples socks off. I guess it's karma anyone that egotistical gets a reality check sooner or later. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Here’s your brain. Here’s your brain on drugs. Any questions? What frightens me is the audience. Having seen this, I’m joining the next band band in my area. Couldn’t possibly be worse!

One question: burnt out or relapsed? I'm sure in Vegas he has access to all the booze, coke, and hookers he (and Viagra) can handle.

I bet he's basting in that leather outfit under the hot lights. The little blue pill, Viagra, is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor so cyclic nucleotides go up (cAMP, cGMP) which activates cyclic nucleotide dependent kinases that phosphorylate Hsp 20 (I helped identify) and inhibits smooth muscle contraction-so tissues become engorged. It's interesting that even with a potent contractile agonist and myosin light chains phosphorylated such normally smooth muscle is contracted the smooth muscle relaxes=even cell permeable mimetic peptides will relax it. The exact mechanisms is not fully understood but appears to influence actin more so than myosin. Sorry I couldn't help myself-old habits "hard" to break. LOL.

"Unchained" (no pun intended) -

"Jump" -

I'd like the opportunity to speak with the band of hired guns. I know "no one" will know who they are and it's DLH that's doing a terrible job and they're there to do a job, be a pro, etc., but if it's like that every night, realistically how much can you focus the mentality on "just paying the bills, just paying the bills, paying the bills..." to get through it and if they're going on the road w/ him and KISS.

Speaking of KISS, I can't imagine Gene and Paul seeing these clips and still wanting him on tour. I know it's all about the money, but KISS and Gene especially seems to be very keen on delivering a great show and can't imagine DLH in this vocal condition would be acceptable.

Lol gesundheit!

I don’t think they’ll be doing their careers any harm, the comments between me and my mates all day as we’ve shared our opinions on the videos have been about how great the band are. And listen to the applause at the end of Jump. Yes it was awful (although not as awful as some of the other songs) but that amount of love and positive feeling in the room must transfer over to the band. From what I’ve read on YouTube , when he hasn’t gone looking for notes he can’t reach he’s been okay in stuff like Tobacco Road and Elephant Gun and I can believe it because in a lot of Jump he was fine. Sadly looking at his body language and performance though I get the feeling the problems are deeper rooted than just his singing voice.

I will say he has no problem with security. I would never have even done that in the first place, let alone release it.

It doesn't take anything away from what he's done. I just think it was a really bad idea.

Damn ?!!! I actually felt embarrassed and sad for him!!

It was like watching an over the hill boxer getting his ass kicked in the first round of a comeback fight after coming out of retirement. Seen him a half dozen times in VH’s prime and am a fan of what he’s done and accomplished in the past , but this is just painful to see and hear ??.

I'm just going to just say "no."

Having admired him for so long, it would be tragic to try and watch!

I think you folks are missing the boat. He really NAILED all the vocals. But his sound tech was used to working with analog gear and recording to open reel tape, so the mic preamp was WAAAYYY too hot for the digital board. Overdriven, clipped and gosh knows what else.

Or, DLR just doesn't give a rat's rump and is taking those paychecks right to the bank!

FWIW, I made it to 1:20 before pulling the plug. :D
