Big weekend in Nashville!

Thank you DW, once again, for being my cheering section!

We had the opportunity to play The Texas Troubadour in Nashville on Saturday night as a part of the JMA Fest this past weekend. We were invited to come play a set as a part of the Jose Music Awards, one of the biggest award shows for independent artists. We had a LOT of fun, and the Troubadour wants us to come back! I can't wait to get back there and play some more. Here are a couple of videos from that evening. It was a sold-out crowd. (I know someone will ask, so the house kit was a set of Gretsch Renowns. Yes, they sounded good. I bought along my 14 x 6.5 Black Beauty and my Heartbeat Cymbals. Below are a couple of videos for your enjoyment.)

That same night, they had a show called The Midnight Jamboree (it began at 10:30pm thank goodness!). So after we packed up, I decided to stick around on a whim. David Frizzell played (he was the guy who sang "I'm Gonna Hire a Wino" back in the 80s), and of course he and his band were nothing short of amazing. I'm so glad we stayed!!!

Saturday night were the Josie Music Awards at The Grand Ole Opry. Alex was nominated for 5 different awards, so we all dressed up and hit the red carpet that evening. Alex ended up winning Country Artist of the Year! Here are a few pics.

The most special part of it was the fact I got to share in this moment with my wife and daughter. They had never been to Nashville before, so we experienced everything above in addition to a crazy night at South Broadway together.

I REALLY needed this weekend to put the wind back in my sails. We have a few more gigs until our little break (of maybe 3 weeks?) before we hit it again next year. Thank you all for your continued support in all of the crazy I post on here.

I try to enjoy everything because we don't get to do this forever..

Absolutely awesome!!!

Great gig, awesome you got to share it with your family. Congrats to Alex on the award. He sounds great for that genre.....

Nice playing for the tune as well.........

Awesome!! Looks like it was a great experience. Glad the family got to experience it too.

On a personal note-I never noticed how much you favor my son-in-law.

That music is not what I prefer, but you guys sound good. Peace and goodwill.

We will be at an event at the Troubadour on November 1st and they are expecting 400 folks. Can that place handle 400 People?
It should. The event I played at was sold out.

I can say "I knew this guy before he had to dress up" !!!

what an awesome ride!!!!

Congrats! I played Nashville once for a week.. got to meet Don Felder and watched his show from the stage - I think it was at the Toubadour.. does it have multiple levels and balconies?

Wherever it was - it was night to remember! Don Felder rocks.. and a really great guy.

The only place I know of that has multiple stages and whatnot is Tootsies on Broadway. This is over near the mall, but the old Troubadour may have been this way.

Just one stage but 2 or 3 balcony levels.. I think I remember now - it was the Wild Horse Saloon. Awesome place!
