There's no doubt that key differences exist between Zildjian and Paiste. Debating one's superiority over the other is pointless. It's not a matter of which is better but a question of which you like more.
One of the best sounding hats I've owned was a Sabian B8 14" thin crash as the top, and the original B8 top as the bottom. It was surprisingly dark when partially open, at least for a very bright super pack of cymbals they came in.
I prefer a slightly darker cymbal that still cuts, so I stick with thin AAX fast crashes as they work. But if I could find a B8 pair like my old hats set up, I would snatch them up in a heartbeat. But they changed their line a bit since I had them.
