100 Most Skilled Drummers

Pretty comprehensive list! There's always more but that would exceed the 100 requirement...

* Sonny Payne
* Butch Miles
* Duffy Jackson
* Rufus "speedy" Jones

I would of put in Graham Lear in there he seemed to be very underrated drummer may be if it was 150 most skilled he might of been in there.

Son of Vistalite questions the utility of posting a 15-minute video from 12 years ago with barely a description.

According to the video, it's the 100 Greatest Drummers who exceed in rudimentary and time keeping ability, overall technical skill and versatility.

SoVB is not an expert, but is it correct to choose Kenny Aronoff over drummers missing from the Raw list like Sir Charlie Watts (RIP), Keith Moon, Alex Van Halen or Clyde Stubblefield?

Can you have a metal category that doesn't include Bill Ward?

How can we be sure why Dino Danelli is in the R&B category?

Is Carter Beauford a fusion drummer? Journey's Dean Castronovo is metal?

Please excuse spelling and omissions in this unexpected homework assignment.

Keith Moon can't be accused of accurate timing or controlled playing. Charlie Watts was just a time keeper. Alex and Clyde make more sense, yes.

I'd give Carter the Fusion pass.

Bill Ward has to be in that list.

The video speaks for itself and I find it interesting to see the different techniques used in drumming from days gone by!

Joey Baron
Marvin Smitty Smith
Gene Hoglan
Manu Katche
Jo Jones
Clyde Stubblefield
Marc Gulliana
Ringo

Just to name a few, I could keep going…There were ALOT of missed names. Words like ‘best’ or ‘most’ attached to a drummer is only quantifying someone’s opinion and nothing more.

Loved the video.
And learned that Louis Bellson appeared to be a monster player.
