Grape juice flashbacks are real. But it was me who had it…cymbal stand and floor tom leg were touching after a slight adjustment.

It’s slightly over 2000, like 2100 and change. And the Diril is a 20 and lighter, yes. But boy is my face red! I adjusted the placement of my floor tom a couple days ago, and I just discovered that a leg was touching the cymbal stand.

Thought he said it was a WFL.

What does “vintage” even mean? Bonham? Ringo? Baby Dodds? Rope drum? Hollow log with dinosaur skin over the opening?

At least you choose your battles carefully and only go off about the important things. ;)

No way I could do it. I practice with them sometimes, but I spend limited time on them because my hands are old.

Only did it once in drums…I would write a short tempo/feel reminder, maybe an occasional bar if there was a specific fill I needed to remember, etc. And I tried to keep it down to one or two pages. Then I do the gig and we do maybe 5 of those songs and a whole bunch of wildcards, half of which...

Good tips, folks. I will try some of them tomorrow. I did look for cracks and didn’t see anything, but again, it could have been the Benadryl ;)

I doubt that about AutoTune. I can usually hear it even when it’s subtle, and I heard no telltale signs. Dennis is just a great singer.

Yep, just a different pitch. Not last night. I am now, though…just took a couple Benadryls and I’m very altered.

As well he should ;) But I think those holey cymbals aren’t nearly as annoying.

My Sabian Studio Ride started humming last night. I think part of the problem is it placement too close to the floor tom, but even when I move it, it still has a hum, just a different pitch. So what else should I look for?

I’m not an fx cymbal type, but I could be talked into a Zero. Would make a nice bash ride.

What I’d like to know is I saw Styx in 79 and Dennis DeYoung a few years ago at Epcot, and I swear he sounded every bit as good at age 69 as he did back in the day.

I don’t have much interest in it to be honest. I watch vids and they’re cool, but I really can’t get past the sound of those modern heads.
