LLLOOOLLL ! ! ! ! !
Thanks. Coffee everywhere.
Admittedly she sounds like me in my first band. Even though we were a cover band I had a specific sound I wanted the band to be known for - that part I was right about - but I had a tendency to not be flexible or compromising with the other band...
It's absurd that they call themselves "producers", whether in the literal sense or the industry's definition.
I haven't read all the comments, if someone already mentioned that.
I see what you're saying but just because you can afford an $8k kit doesn't mean you can afford to buy it and not like it and have to sell it, and then what? Repeat that same process? That's not very efficient, or smart with one's money. You know what is? Jump on a drum forum, discuss kits with...
But a slightly different sound on a musical instrument is a big deal to a lot of people, whether amateurs or major artists and renowned virtuosos. The slightest difference can be "all wrong".
Very true, you will sound like you on drums that sound like A, and you will sound like you on drums that sound like B.
But sometimes (very often) people want to discuss sound A and sound B in and of themselves. Especially people in the market for drums.
I'm pretty sure I never actually asked for advice online, but you'd better believe I research, then research some more, which of the kits I'm interested in is the best value based on what I want in a kit.
That's how I ended up with a SC Maple and Performance, instead of a Star and Collector's. I...
I read a lot of comments like "it's nothing new" and "it's always been this way". And there's some truth to that, but some things have changed recently. There have been some shifts, or realignments. For one thing, mine is the first generation who's music is too loud, hard and heavy, and...
I haven't heard any of it. It's not like they're replacing music, they're just making shit remakes that will be forgotten in a month, while the original music endures.
It's made for people who think they're "listening to music" on their little devices, which hilariously, might as well be a tiny...
It appears to me the difference in what you get for your money grows smaller as the prices get higher.
For example it's reasonable to assume you are indeed getting nearly twice the quality from a $1k over a $500 one.
Once you get into the "flagship" range, you're paying for a wider selection of...
I'm not sure playing to a click necessarily means you're following it. For example if you're playing with a bass player, you're not each doing your own thing, you're locked in. That's how I treat the metro. As another entity with whom I'm keeping perfect time.
I think the most important thing...
I just try to not lose sight of why I'm celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas, amid all the commercialization and layers of completely unrelated nonsense.
No doubt Buddy Rich would nail it. That's kind of my point, that Rush (and similar music) is more about learning the song than being profoundly technically capable. The challenge is not leaving anything out, and not having to substitute Neil's precise, deliberate notes with your own . . . stuff...
Just want to point out, regarding the Rush comparisons; nothing Peart played was remarkably technically advanced. The reason Rush is a challenge to play is mostly not because of technique, it's because of all the detail, and the precision of it.
Compared to other rock and pop, there's nearly an...
