Walnut! And my snare collection

Everyone here knows my love for Rosewood snare drums, and recently, Spotted Gum wood.

I was about to sell a snare to help pay for another, but it wasn't selling (even though I never wanted to sell it), so it gave me time to re-evaluate. I'm not sure if it's this snare in particular, or walnut period, but this wood is truly something special and becoming a favorite. It is so thick and lush, but also has a deafening crack it. It's nearly a perfect snare.

It's a limited Mapex 30th Anniversary Walnut Black Panther. I had always wanted a Deep Forest walnut from the 90s, and this is the same wood with the upgraded features of today.

I had a very rare opportunity of having all my snares together today, so I snapped a woods and metals picture. Aside from collecting, I have every single base I could ever need covered. I feel very fortunate to have this collection. Cheers!

How’s the Tama SLP Spotted Gum?
Amazing. My wife got it for me for our 10 year anniversary as I had been eyeing them. It immediately became a favorite. It's got everything you'd want in a snare, along with great hardware and looks.

I was originally wanting an Evetts Spotted Gum, but this one is nearly the same drum at half the cost.

Yea. I had the Tama SLP Walnut and blown away with the quality for such an inexpensive drum
