Paiste 22” Dark Energy Mk 2
I love this cymbal, it might be in the future my 2nd 22" with my Paiste Master 22" dark crisp ride.

I regretted selling the 14” version of these.

So I just rebought the 15” Meinl Foundry Reserve Hi Hats.
Top hat is 980g
Bottom hat is 1300g

Been using the 15” Meinl Byzance Thin Jazz hats. But I feel like these FR are super versatile. Perfect mix of a little trashy, buttery, light and articulate.

I just ordered a 13x10 Pearl Masters MCX tom off Ebay (brand new) that I'll use as a floor tom.

I actually prefer a 10 / 14 tom combination but have done 10 / 13 in the past. I had originally tried to purchase a 14x14 Pearl MCX off Ebay, but the deal fell through. Buying a 10" x 13" hanging tom was my "plan B". Now I'm starting to think I may have dodged a bullet my not getting the 14" floor tom. I'm geeked at having a hanging floor tom once again.

Will send photos once it arrives.

I like the Meinl brand. Most of my percussion stuff is Meinl. Last year, I had a problem with my Meinl cabasa. I contacted the company and they made it right. Very impressive company. If anything ever goes wrong with these cymbals (highly doubtful) rest assured Meinl customer service will do the right thing. Good company.

I’m actually a big fan of 10” rack and 14” floor Tom too.

Bought myself a Pork Pie Little Squealer 6x14 Steel Snare for $300, and honestly it sounds great right out of the box. Articulate, big, nice ring, nice cross stick sound, perfect for back beats, ghosts, buzz rolls. Goes great with my other Pork Pie Chrome over Brass 6.5x14 which I am using currently as a side snare. Looks great too! Very happy with my purchase. snares-squealer6x14-steelchrome.jpg

Well I finally bit the bullet and got the ever talked about and loved/despised Yamaha stage custom in raven black. 22, 16, 14, 12, 10. Dumped the snare and lined up the 6.5 bronze hammered, added 3 booms and there we have it. I’m loving the set, the finish and build quality of this 1000$ set is fantastic compared to the junk of the 70’s and 80’s. The toms and floors sound amazing right out of the box with the cheap heads on. I have had every top end set over the last 30 years and this really holds its own. Can’t wait for the accountant to let me get the 8, 13, and 18 to complete the set. I asked her if Santa was going to be flexible after tax return time; she said maybe only if she had enough left over in the budget after her trip to Paisley Park in June.🙏🏻 lol

Nice! I have that one in 13x6 and you describe it well. Very articulate, well-made snare drums.

They really are great drums and deserving of the praise they get. It's good that you have owned some top sets because that gives you some perspective on just how good the Yamahas are for the money.

I owned a Cranberry Red set a couple of years ago and loved it. I often wish I still had it but I traded it in towards my DW set so no real regret there. I still have a 2nd generation Stage Custom which will probably be with me forever as I am sentimental about them.

You can hit the raw bass drum hoops with a couple of coats of polyurethane to jazz them up and add some protection, if you like. It's quick and easy and really improves their appearance.

Edit: I found a before and after picture so that you can judge for yourself.

I have a 13" hanging Tom, with the 10" and 12" and I love it, the difference between it and the 16" is great, it made my 16" being "long deep boom".... If you don't like it as a floor Tom you could still have a 13" and a 14 or 15" floor anyway...

I was hesitating to have them in 15" but found a good promo on a 14" so, I liked them so much that I decided to have them in a remote hat almost in front of me...
And I have the Benny Greb sand hats that is my moan hats and they are a great opposite, I could even play them together with one foot.
If I even find a good deal on the 15", I may buy them to... Well, maybe a Paiste signature dark crisp hats now at first.

An Ogio case
A bunch of Aquarian heads that were on clearance.
A Sleishman snare
A dw eco x. The eco x has been sitting in a guys garage for a few years but I managed to clean it up pretty nice and replace the heads. He also had a neglected dw 5000 pedal which I’m in the process of ordering parts for, the shaft is cactue and the chain linkage needs replacing.

I think there might be an issue with the Sleishman and the Facebook seller blocked me after I picked it up, bit if a worry but I’ll take it apart when I get time and see if it’s just a setup issue.
