Left hand pain

My left hand (snare hand ) hurts pretty bad like when someone shakes your hand too tight and squeezes your knuckles together. x-rays show no fractures so I am starting to wonder if it is the interosseous muscles from overuse playing drums? I initially thought it was at work when I fell and caught myself in an awkward position, and thats when I 1st felt it but that was 4 weeks ago. I have had 2 sets of xrays done and am going back to see the specialist wednesday. All I been doing is taping my pinky finger to my ring finger and not using the left hand very much but still the pain seems as bad as it did 3 weeks ago.

Not playing drums and missing 5 gigs so far during the summer has really sucked. Anyone else ever had this? any tips or suggestions? I am starting to think maybe I should switch to traditional grip going forward as I do tend to hit kind of hard with my left hand and have been trying to quell that lately before this injury even happened.

I have been doing some reading up on it and think it may be the interosseous muscles of the hand, and treatment seems to be massaging it and stretching it but I am going to wait till the specialist tells me to do it as I don't want to cause more damage.

If you worked with your hands during your life you will probably develop some kind of arthritis. Going through that myself my thumbs and middle finger. Feels like they will dislocate if you bend right?

I had bad carpal in my left hand years ago, and although I had cold laser treatments for it, it's never completely gone away. When I play matched grip, there's no sign of it. I wish you luck.

It started happening to me this summer too which led to two cancelled gigs. Not completely sure yet if it's carpal tunnel or tendenitis. I recently switched from hickory 5As to maple 5bs and have been using a lighter grip. This has helped so far.
