I don't program complicated drum parts when writing. Just the most basic thing with the appropriate feel. I want room for the drummer, be it myself or someone else, to add the complexities and interest. If possible I don't want the drummer to even hear it. Its just there for me to do my parts...

That's talking about it being paired with a 2 ply batter head. It does not say a 2 ply reso sustains longer than a 1 ply

Bermuda is certainly entitled to his opinion and preferences. Whatever works for the gig. That said, the vast majority of players have used 10 mil heads as reso heads since the dawn mylar drum heads. Certainly physics tells us that excited with sufficient energy, a thinner head will sustain less...

Can't agree. If you have overtones that weren't in the video, the issue is tuning, not eq. You can't eq "great" into a recording.

I prefer Reaper. Low cost of entry and extremely capable.

I bought a few of these years ago. They work well enough but being limited to one of the floor tom legs can be a limitation in some cases
