Renowns...I get it now!

The ony Renowns I ever had a chance to play were back in the mid 80's, my frind bought a 5 piece walnut kit. the sanre was absolutly amazing. the toms were just perfect. that was an amazing sounding kit.

I had a Renown kit about three years ago. I loved it but... I was moving and stuff had to go.

The finish on my kit was "cherry burst". This was easily the most beautiful finish of any drun set I have ever owned.

J.D. it doesn't look like you're using any of your memory locks. There's one for the bass drum mount and one each for the rack toms and floor tom legs. Any particular reason you aren't using them?

Love your color btw. (My Rogers are similar, in blue) It was that, CB, or WMP. The WMP's were about $200 more. The black were actually $200+ less. I'm happy with mine. They look much better in person of course.

I have buyer's remorse for getting the 22" RN2 BD instead of the 18".
I remember seeing a band called the Linxs at a local high society club called The Paddock and the drummer was playing a blue sparkle Gretsch kit with a 22" bass drum. His kit sounded phhhhenominal. It was the first time I said to myself that Gretsch is seriously happening.

I dig the wrap on that snare drum!
TY! TN dude makes some pretty cool custom drums. Mostly known for a "Carroll Shelby" kit he did. This is maple, 5" x 14", and I traded a 1960's Rogers Dynastic COB for it.

I've had and played on a lot of kits, including the DWS in my avi. But when I started playing these WMP Renowns at a church, I thought: "I LIKE this sound". So I ordered some. Course, they also have some Ludwig Classic Maples, and I like them a lot too, but after a few weird hardware issues I ruled them out.

Thanks. I was thinking WMP when I bought my kit but the SOP shell pack came with the snare for just $200 CDN ($150 USD) more. I had heard great things about the snare so I went for it. I'm glad I did.

My wrapped kit was about $200 more than a lacquered set but I loved the look of it so it was worth it. I believe that Gretch's wraps are pretty durable so that might explain the upcharge. It certainly looks and feels premium.
