Can anyone here read MRI's at all?

This is a long shot, but I'm having a really hard time getting the information I need from my doctor team.

Long story short, I was bitten by a dog last September. Have been to numerous doctors, the wait times are out of control (seeing a neurologist next on April 13.)
I had an MRI and feel the radiologist may have missed some scar tissue formation and I believe that's impacting my nerve and/or tendon function.

My thumb has been sluggish and moves really slowly but strength is okay.

I have my MRI and some screenshots I'll happily post if someone here is qualified to give a second opinion. Radiologists often miss things since they don't know what the real symptoms are and the doctor I WAS working with didn't even open the MRI to review himself.

If anyone is qualified and willing to help, I'll post screenshots of the key MRI pictures.

Disclaimers:
- I know "go see a doctor" and forums don't replace medical advice
- I've seen several doctors, a specialist in hand occupational therapy
- I don't have time to be waiting months between visits and need answers so maybe someone in the drumming community can help me out

Thanks

What? You have wait-times and iffy service from your doctors? You must be in some horrible socialist country! Oh wait....

Sorry, sorry! I'll refrain...

I'm sorry I can't help with your MRIs, but I can empathize. I have numerous issues with my hands - some due to injury, others due to the mysteries of nature - and I have been unable to get real help from any number of medical professionals. I just lumber on.

I do hope you are able to get some resolution, Dan. Good luck!

Just another Friday night here at the Drummerworld forums folks...

A request for an expert MRI reading AND a political knock on the USA all in the same thread....

Lol

Must have been a hell of a bite. Sorry to hear about that and I hope you're able to get to the bottom of it.

It's not uncommon around here for people to take their images to another doctor that's in-network for insurance. Might be worth a call or two.

Yeah, I mean over at drumforum.org you NEVER have any political comments. I literally looked at the site for 5 minutes a few weeks ago and sure enough, there was a thread about the stock market (!) and political comments were clear as day. Not sure why you are complaining about it over here unless you don't like the political slant. Oh wait....

The MRI should show infection, scar or damage. So did you get bite in hand or forearm and was it a tear or just teeth marks? A dog can rip you up quick when really attacking, while teeth marks are getting your attention. I’m not qualified and can’t read the MRI (did human gross anatomy and we did have to identify cross sections and some imaging but I’ve forgotten most of that) but the location could tell you what muscle or nerve might have an issue. What thumb motion feels weird?

Complaining? Lol

It’s an observation not a complaint....

Why though? Did you do the same thing on the Stock Market thread?
No conspiracy there- Because I don’t have any interest in the “stock market thread” and have no clue what is discussed in it.

Since we use our hands to play with, I don't see a problem discussing hand MRIs on the forum, especially since the forum is thread-based and people can skip over the topic easily if they want to.

Let's see the MRIs! You should upload them to imgurl then point us to them. Note that you'll need to convert the DICOM images on the CDROM to jpeg/png/giff/etc files first (the CDROM comes with a viewer which you'll need to maximize on your screen, then use a screen capture tool for each slice/image... there could be a 100 slices, but you should be able to narrow down to those around the injury).

I'm 3 weeks tomorrow from my dog bite and already fully healed - right hand, ring finger, pinky finger, small dog. No doctor. No MRI. Just hand soap and rest. Let's take a look!!

Let's please try to keep at least a tenuous link to something drumming impact injury related in this thread.
Sorry sir, that was me. Didn't really mean to stir the pot. Sarcasm just pops out of me.

Back to the thread - coincidentally, I just learned of another person who is having similar lingering symptoms from a dog bite in the leg. The doc suspects unseen nerve damage in that case.

In the USA there laws dealing with HIPPA, which is the protection of Medical information to the public and only to those with a Right to Know. I don't think, even if there was a Radiologist or Technologist on the site, they they would dare give out information on what you confess to be your MRI. There is no way for any one to verify the MRI is yours and I just see nothing but bad news coming out of this. Sorry but I am closing this thread to protect everyone. This is also my main objection in entertaining threads that have nothing to do with drumming or music. But I have a boss.
