Not to be-little this fine forum which I visit every day BUT, I recently picked up an old session kit. Been trying to get on the pearl forum and it will never let me post a question and loses my user name after a day or less. So I re-register over and over but enough is enough. Multiple emails to admins and webmasters and never a reply. Whats up with those people? It's a busy place but is it closed to new registrants?

Re: pearl drummers forum registration issues

People have posted similar complaints here before about the Pearl forum.
I joined a few months ago without issue. You're not missing much! There is much more to be had here. IMO

Re: pearl drummers forum registration issues

I tried fifteen times (not joking) on pdf to register and finally got tired and found DWF. I do visit pdf and lurk I really enjoy it here and love the interaction with drummers of various years of expierience and tastes in music.

one thing I love about this forum is the acceptance we find for drummers of all levels and tastes...no doubt Barker and Jordison are good drummers...however I love being around folks who actually know who Ginger Baker and John Dinsmore are.

Ha..My bandmates call me Jimger, though thats an absurd stretch. I may be the only guy here to get his first kit at 53!

I went through the same thing... They claim they have an anti-spam system that is overly agressive... but personally, I think it's down right ridiculous. I'm not sure why any forum would use something that worked so poorly so frequently. Having spent my share of time running VBB bulletin boards, I think someone is just falling down on their duties.

If you want to get registered.. here's what you do: Register on PDF, then go to MySpace and send them a note saying you're having trouble getting registered.
This is the real Pearl MySpace page... http://www.myspace.com/pearldrumcorp

Worked for me.

Re: pearl drummers forum registration issues

I registered about a year ago. Posted twice. Suddenly showed up as "banned". No explanation. Emailed the admins to find out why. No answer. Not only would I not try to register again but I will not buy Pearl products. Waste of time.

Hey Doc, Haven't heard from you in a while.
Question, You won't buy Pearl products because of the Pearl forum?
I have always known Pearl drum products to be well made. Even the low end drums are icons in the drumming world. Pearl hardware is excellent!
Please elaborate further.

I am actually very pleased with my "vintage" sessions. Great sounding shells. I have the birch and mahogany,( or the light wood with some dark wood) shells. Very nicely made. Easy to tune, even with thin pre super hoop rims. Pre ISS or opti's or whatever floating mount they use. Clean simple vintage look and honest tones. Even the early sensitone snare seems a good working mans snare. I also like my "Burled" birdseye maple formica kitchen countertop wrap. Though I'm thinking I have the only example in existence but jeez you cant screw that stuff up. No flash and glitter but definitely an honest kit. And the hardware is great.

My experience with Pearl Drummer forum is very similiar to yours. However, I did not register 15 times, after attempting twice I gave up. Each time I would get a message that "my account is being reviewed" and then nothing. And so I continued searching for a good drumming forum and eventually found this. I agree with someone down below, whomever is running that forum is "falling asleep at the wheel" so to speak. And has been for a long time. I just can't imagine letting a popular forum break down like that. It is so hard to create a successful forum as it is. I imagine this will eventually have an impact on the Pearl forum. Maybe not now, but eventually it will.

Re: pearl drummers forum registration issues

Hey Bob and Jim! Just sour grapes. I really don't mean that I will never buy Pearl products. I was just venting because I never got word back after many emails to the Admins at Pearl Forum. I usually don't make comments like this. It just ticked me off and I put my foot in my mouth. I had hoped that at my age I wouldn't do things like this. My bad. Thanks for calling me on it.

No worries. I was beginning to take it personally also till I started this thread and found I wasnt alone. I believe their spam filters are blocking my IP out of hand and nothing I send is getting through unless someone allows my IP address.I dont think they are just being dicks. They are drummers after all.

Re: pearl drummers forum registration issues

What is your account name over there?

This goes for everyone who is having problems.

It is nice of you to help some individuals over here. But we must only be a few peeps out of hundreds that unsuccessfully tried to register with PearlDrummersForum. It was interesting to see this topic because I thought I was just getting bad luck. I could see that the Pearl forum was currently active and busy. So it didn't make any sense. I think that forum deserves a better administrator.

Also, most web surfers don't have patience for that. They move on and find another forum such as this one. That's what happened in my case and others who posted below me. It's a "click click, now now" culture on the internet. No waiting.

Actually there was an incredible amount of SPAM, especially that of Pornography, before this new filtering system. For the current members it has be a much improved experience. Unfortunately, there have been some side effects.
