Let's try again, shall we?

Right well i've sorted out my cymbal. As you lot may well know i did bugger up a cymbal known as the "z custom projection crash". Today i've just been back into ull and got a replacement which is the z custom medium crash. It's not quite as heavy as the projection crash but i'm actually quite glad because that thing was a bitch to try and get to open up any, glancing blows just didn't really do it. I think zildjian wanted people to crack them really quickly so they would buy another one but this cymbal is a lot more crashable due to it's reduced weight. It's not quite as loud but it's certainly not quiet(!) The sound from it is great i think, nice highs, the typical powerful midrange that you get with a Z custom and a good bit of bottom as well. All in all, a pretty good cymbal i think.

I've been using some cracked old AAX cymbal as a replacement (cost £10 :p) and amazingly, it doesn't seem to have cracked any more since i started hitting it right so i think that's quite a good sign really and of course i can just use that to practice with if i get a bit worried. Also i sold the other crash cymbal, an A custom projection, to my mate and in return i got some money and his old cymbals.

Anyway, pic time:

ZHT fast crash 14" which i'm using as a hihat top since my other one broke :p

ZBT 16" crash. The sound is okay but nothing like the A custom i had before obviously, bit thin on mids and bottom compared to the Z custom.

ZBT 20" ride. I'm glad i got this one because the sabian ride i had before seriously sucked. This one is okay though, no a custom but it's fine for now really.

ZXT 18" china titanium, not quite that shiny any more i must add! But to be honest i rather like this cymbal, think it's quite good for what sound i want out of it, quality isn't really great though must say.

Couple of shots of the kit (wrapped in camo fabric ;)) TAMA SCP originally in orange, 12",14", 22". 16" floor tom is a premier resonator, no screws on the inside shell. 14" santafe camo snare, pretty good snare i think.

Pretty much what it looks like now apart from obviously different ride and crash cymbals (i don't have the crashes flat any more either!), that's the old pound coin brass sabian cymbal on there. And yes, i do need another tuning bolt for my kick drum. Might get it off Highwood's website, thinking of getting a 10" tom.

the "driver's seat" view. No lion king pillow i'm afraid. Don't bother telling me to get new heads, the one's on the 12" and 16" toms ARE new!

Nice kit man. Is that kit old? I didn't know there was an orange paint. Are those the kind of hoops on the bass drum from rockstar kits?
Cool stuff though man, keep rocking!

Well yeah apart from the snare drum which is pretty new, the resonator is from the 80s and the SC is from the mid 90s sometime. The "paint" is actually a trans finish i think it's called trans amber or something but really it's orange. Yeah they're GRP hoops which i think is why it was so cheap because somebody might have thought they were retro-fitted but they were factory.

hi guys thought i'd just add a couple more pix to the equation

The old cracked AAX i've been using for the past couple of months due to lack of a Z custom, i decided to sign it so people might think i got it signed by some rockstar :p

The snare drum a bit of a better shot.

The original finish on the drums (actually it's still there under the fabric. I personally hate it but if i decide to sell changing it back is pretty easy.
