Query about Kit

Anyone have experienc with "Percussion Plus"? I am looking at a scaled down kit for my grandson. Sizes: 16x11-BD, 12x5-SD, 8x5 TT. Dismissed it when I first saw it, but I didn't have this application in mind then. I'm going to take another look. I'll post pictures later.

I think this is the generic house brand sold at Guitar Center. I saw a typical $299 special with a 20" BD, 12" 14" toms and 14" snare. Very typical of the Chinese-made stuff (compared to the big drum names). But for kids sets, I think they're perfect. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if every company making kids sets were getting them from the same place!

Another way to go is to find a used Tama StageStar for a few hundred dollars. New, they are $500.
It's a first quality beginners kit. 14x18 12x14 8x12 8x10 5x13
It even comes with a really good kid size bass pedal that requires no riser on the 18 inch bass.
He could play that kit for life!
Good resale value also on the StageStar's.

I use mine for Jazz and Rock in small clubs and I love it!

The ImperialStar replaced the StageStar. Also a great kit! The ImpStar comes in many size configurations. Scroll down the page and read about the hardware! http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-TAM-IS58C-LIST

You can still find new StageStar's http://drums-percussion.musiciansfr...83038&src=3WFRWXX&ZYXSEM=0&CAWELAID=529831027

Tama makes great entry level kits that can be played as the drummer progresses. The hardware is great!
