Tama Starclassic Bubinga snares?

Looking to get one as a Christmas gift. I've only used metal snares since I've been playing and would like to throw a wood snare into the mix. I currently have a 14x6.5 Black Panther Sledgehammer. I'm looking for that deep pop with a good crack and body. I had also considered a Pearl MCX snare as well. Any opinions? Thanks!

bubinga will get you a very deep pop with copious amounts of body. sounds like a winner to me!

I have the S.L.P. model and it's on of my favorite snares right now. It's my main snare for the classic rock band I play in. Beautiful dry low-end sound with plenty of crack when I need it. I love the way it looks also. I'd definately recommend it to anyone.

The full bubinga snare is one of my most prized drum possessions. I also use mine for rock and some country music, but it's great sounding for many other genres.
