Drummers who are great to watch

Deen Castronovo.

Terry Bozzio when he's not in an esoteric mood.

That's really funny because the Bozzio show I was referring to above (with Jeff Beck) was in Japan with Band English opening (and Chuck Berry closing - weird combo, for sure) and Deen Castronovo was playing with them at the time. That was the first I'd ever heard of him and was blown away.

Another time I saw Bozzio was at a clinic where he ripped some dude a new one for interrupting him during a Q&A session. Cast enough of a pall over the rest of the clinic that many of us simply left before it was over.

I like Damien Schmitt. He's like this crazy monkey waving his arms around and jumping around. He also is pretty creative and has a nack for entertaining while drumming.

I think thats the wrong link. Sent me to some crazy german homemade show.

Anyways, John Blackwell is great, his stick tricks are fantastic.

Also, a little off topic, but I love the way he hangs his china cymbal, really adds to the presence of his kit, makes it look like some sort of scorpion.

John Bonham. Ian Paice, Joey Jordison, Carter Beauford, Carmine Appice, Ringo Starr, and Keith Moon..

For sheer entertainment value & uncontrived madness, there's only one choice, Moonie!!!

Yes! Even though I've only seen him on video. Just the facial expressions are great!

Yeah - Stewie is a joy to watch!

And bigger yes to this. On video or live he is my fave to watch.

The drumbassador guys are pretty visually evtertaining too.

I've always found Gene Krupa to be the most enjoyable to watch. When you watch videos of him playing you can tell he's having so much fun and loves what he's doing.

Others I love to watch: Louie Bellson, Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Keith Moon, Derek Roddy, John Bonham, Jo Jones, Neil Peart, and many more.

Some of my favorites to watch have also been some of my favorites to listen to within the music or as master soloist....

Art Blakey, Louie Bellson, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Max Roach, Jack Dejohnette, Bob Moses, Roy Haynes, Claude Ranger, Buddy Rich, Dennis Chambers, Lenny White... the list goes on

All the them have been a huge treat to both eyes and ears live in the flesh.

I checked out Thomas Lang as I haven't seen a lot of his stuff. From that one vid it was suggested to check out Mike Mangini and Dave Weckl. I'm already familiar with Weckl, incredible player. These guys are all inhuman machines... can only sit back and enjoy the best.

joe morello, tony williams, max roach, lenny white, papa joe jones

evelyn glennie

stanton moore, keith carlock, benny greb, johnny rabb, steve jordan

lately i've been enjoying watching travis orbin. I've seen his older video about 2 years ago and I said he was good. I got to view his videos this month again and I'm really impressed with what has happened during those 2 years...

I cant believe nobody mentioned Tommy Lee. This thread is not about great drummers its about great VISUAL drummers, and people have been trying to emulate Tommy Lee's theatrics for decades.

Shannon Larkin is a great visual drummer. Not the most well known guy, but he does some great things with the sticks while he plays.

Levon helm of the band especially in the movie "the last waltz"

nicko mcbrain is really fun to watch becuase he has such a great sense of humor and looks like everything he does is tounge in cheek.
