If I continue to improve, soon I hope to be a perfect mixture of Tony Allen, Alan Wren and Bernard Purdie.

Anthony Amodeo
JP Gaster
Elvin J
Papa Jo J
TJ Bergren (nobody here will know him).
Brain Blade
Brendan Canty
Bill Stevenson

That's the top of my head. All inspiring players to me, typically I'm much more interested in the attitude and approach of a drummer more so than how many notes they can play in the shortest time.

You are absolutely an inspiration for me to play; it honestly wasn't meant as flattery, but it's a sincere thought. I'm super jealous of your students, simply because I've learned a ton from your head, and I don't even get to take lessons.

If I could inspire others to play down the road as you've done to me, I'd feel accomplished. Inspiring others is something to take pride in.

I'm sure I've posted here before, but I'll do it again.

Jean-Paul Gaster
John Bonham
Bobby Schayer

I actually took lessons from JP via Bandhappy, simply because my motifs and overall technique to his own are pretty similar. Before I even took his lessons, friends of mine claimed that Clutch's Blast Tyrant record contains 75% of my drumming in a nutshell.

Hello,

I got inspiration from Lars Ulrich and Jimmy the Rev Sullivan.
What I can't play drums live 'cause I'm abroad, I use to play with Jimmy drum set here: http://www.virtualdrumming.com/drums...-sullivan.html

It's funny and easy!

I'm inspired by a drummer not many people will know (other than some Australians), Lucius Borich inspired me to pick up the sticks from the band Cog, anyone who doesn't know them please do yourselves a favour and check them out. They are a once in a lifetime band!

Jim Austin of Into Eternity is easily like 85% of my influence.

Tomi Salonen of One Morning Left is the other 15%.

As a teen, the guy playing on the album that really got me thinking serious about drumming was Bill Stewart playing on Maceo Parker's "Mo Roots".

Having two older brothers studying jazz at university meant I'd been listening to jazz everyday since I was 9 years old, but it was that Maceo album that really got me into drumming when I was 15 years old.

From there, it was Max Roach, Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Cobb, Melvin Parker, Stewart Copeland, Steve Williams (Shirley Horn), Steve Gadd, Steve Jordan, Jack DeJohnette, Ed Thigpen, Tony Williams, Kenwood Dennard, John Riley and many more!

For any church drummers, or Christian rockers, I love Lester Estelle Jnr. (Pillar), Jeremy Bush or "Bwack" (David Crowder*Band, The Digital Age), and Switchfoot.

Jared Falk, Any "Vic Firth Performance Spotlight" drummers on Youtube, Guitar Center Drum Off, Dave Atkinson, Dave Mackintosh, and others who can do double bass so fast that I can't snap both fingers in time with it.
