Let's see your Gretsch kits (saved the best for last!)

Here is my new Gretsch USA Custom Bop Kit after a 17 week wait. The new round badges for 2013 pushed me over the edge. Went with a vintage build to match the new badges. The kit turned out great with a nice vintage vibe. Steve Maxwell included his rail mount, don't know if I will committ to installing it.

I agree stunningly gorgeous. Even drop dead gorgeous. But then, being dead, you couldn't play these so... Nicest kit I've seen all year. Has "heirloom" written all over 'em... Beauties.

Hi drumgod007,

The Gretsch Catalina Maple is a good kit at a kindly price. I like the white heads - red kit contrast.

How do you like your kickport?

Nice drums, nice cymbals, and the kick port works very well on my Renowns

Those are very nice, what is that hand dial on the side of you snare?

OK guys, my Gretsch is Catalina Ash in cobalt blue. The sizes are 8, 10, 12, 14, 22. Currently I'm trying the Evans black chrome heads on the toms. Still playing with the tuning, but I like them overall. These are the first heads I put on after I bought the drums, so don't have what to compare to at this point. The kick has Emad batter with the stock resonance plus kick port. Very solid sound without any dampening. The snare is the stock one too. Its alright, won't be my fist choice but I have 6 more to choose from, so its just fun to play with it. Currently I have Evens reverse dot on it, medium tuning with slightly higher resonant head. I found this to be the best combo for it. If you guys have any questions please let me know.

Oh yah, I noticed that the toms go out of tune a bit easy. Do you have any suggestions about that?

Cheers!

My 2 year old relative looking relatively comfortable behind my Gretsch 57s. He plays surprisingly loud. Really loud.

I would suggest playing with the reso heads and maybe lose a few of the moon gel bits.
