Replacing bass drum spurs...

I have a 1976 Rogers londoner kit and I am going to buy replacement spurs to make the drum more stable and user friendly. Ive never done this before and I want to do it right (measuring, drilling, etc...) so any tips or walk-through guides would be greatly appreciated.

also will any replacement leg do the trick? I was thinking of getting some heavy duty pearl ones like these:

Good thread. I am looking to do a similar mod to one of mine. I was thinking about getting the Gibraltar's. I believe they have the spurs or pointy things to help you on carpet.

Only reason i want to go pearl is because I know those suckers are heavy and that will help hold the drum in place... it seems to wobble a lot cause its so light and I play hard.
