Cobalt Burst vs. Midnight Steel (I kinda need to borrow your eyes)

I'm seriously considering the purchase of the Mapex Meridian Maples and I'm a little bit torn between Cobalt Burst and Midnight Steel. My reason for being torn between the two might be a bit strange: I have a little bit of a red/green colorblindness happening, and so they both seem slightly purple to me, and I don't want that.

So I'm curious: is the Cobalt Burst 100% blue? Or is there a hint of purple in it? I mean, I know it's a burst, but what colors do you see?

Is Midnight Steel some sort of purple burst finish? I mean, what color is it? Or, what colors are in it?

My first love was Gloss Natural, but I saw it in person and even though it's a beautiful finish, it seems a bit boring and plain. :) Plus, I've never had a fade or a burst finish. On top of that, I have also always been drawn to blue drums. However, I think any hint of purple is out of the question. :)

Links mate?

I don't think it's totally fair that we should all take the time to go scouring the internet to find pics of these kits when you haven't bothered to point us in the right direction. More than happy to help, but how about you give us the links and make life a shade easier for all?

Sure, no problem:

Cobalt Burst (hopefully most of them really are): http://www.google.com/images?num=10...source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&sout=1&biw=1453&bih=808

Midnight Steel (hopefully most of them really are): http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sout=1&biw=1453&bih=808&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=mapex+meridian+maple+midnight+steel&aq=0&aqi=g1&aql=f&oq=mapex+meridian+maple+midnight+

I suppose I could try to find more, but I guess I'm mostly talking about what can be seen right on Mapex's website for the Meridian Maples. I mean, if we only go by what's on Mapex's website, then we eliminate all of these variables in the Google Image search results.

I much prefer the Cobalt Burst mate. To my eye, it's most definitely blue...and the Midnight Steel is most definitely purple. I think if you have an aversion to purple, the Cobalt Burst is the colour you're looking for.

Then it must be the way the blue mixes with the natural color of the wood towards the center. :) Either way, this is certainly the confirmation I needed!

Thank you!

hehe I love you guys. :)

It's certainly more interesting than Gloss Natural (my first pick)!

2 Cable ... Odd man out here.. MIDNIGHT STEEL EASY WIN !!! That Cobalt "burst" looks like every dime-a-dozen "burst", "fade", whatever.. IMO.. Just my take.. I have never seen anything that looks like the Steel color...

But I'm not secure enough in my masculinity to play purple drums in public. :p

Well. they just look cool to me.. I don't know what the masculinity thing is about. Where did that come from ??
It's purple. I realize that purple can mean "royalty", but it's more of a feminine color to me.

fancy names for blue and purple...

I vote blue

Well for me, it's a toss-up between Cobalt Blue and Gloss Natural.
