Thought I'd throw a few pics of some new and old stuff up here... my current everyday kit: Tama Starclassic that I bought new back in '98:
Now on to the old stuff. Here's my first drum kit: a 1965 Ludwig kit (lucky enough to stil have the Sep 28, 1965 production date stamp on the inside of the floor tom) that I'm in the process of restoring. Bought these in 1985 from the original owner. Still have the original hats and hi-hat stand and the Speed King that came with it.
Needed another kit to leave at my buddy's jam space in his basement so I picked these up off of Craigslist this morning. 5-piece Sonor Force 3003 kit with some busted-ass hardware for $400.
Before the head swap and removal of the 13" tom:
$60 worth of new heads and some drum maneuvering:
The real score of the deal are these old Sabian Jack DeJohnette hats... I've wanted a set of these for 20 years.
They definitely need to be cleaned up a bit and some new bits and pieces (the 13" tom is missing the washer/nut that keeps the rubber bushing on the tom mount from moving, old gunky tape residue on the floor tom rim, rubber feet missing on the floor tom), but for $400 I can't complain.
