Hello, just joined the forum, noticed it alot more busy than other drum forums im part of so i joined.

I say its new, I;ve had it for about 2 months now and love it. Other than this kit I had 1 other kit, a Stagg Entry Kit, liked it but thought it was time to upgrade to this ddrum Defiant D-Bop 4 Piece Kit in Verde Sparkle. I've been playing for 8 years, half with lessons and I'm currently in a band whom have just recorded a 4 track EP. Anyway heres some pics of it at home and at a recent gig. Setup has slightly changed through the pics with different heads etc.

Thanks for looking, any recomendations on reso heads for the toms? they are taped up currently and still arn' the best.

sweet lookin kit dude!!! That is a real classy color....

for resonant heads....I am loving the evans ec reso's currently but most folk will tell you remo ambassador,
evans g1, or aquarian classic clear -
basically any single ply clear head....
evans clear gplus for more sustain...

The ec's have a pure tone - no overtone and easy to tune.
I especially like it on my floor tom - perfect tone and controlled sustain.

Looks like you have ec2's as batter's - maybe you've swapped since the pics but
I am really digging clear emperor's for batters (live) coated for recording.

I thought the ec2's were excellent until I heard clear emperors on my kit
the ec2's are nice for mic'ing and recording because of their really controlled sound
but they wear out fast and go dead...

Congrats on your kit!
good luck with the band:)

Thanks!
Im looking for less sustain on the toms, not that dead sound but not that constant ringing, like a happy medium, I've got some Moongel on the reso of the rack tom and thats did the trick for it but would love to run without. Its sorta like hanging there haha
I've kept the EC2's on the tom batters at the moment and have noticed some wear, but it probibly because my old kit had coated emporers all round and I've now changed to clear heads.

ec reso's then....you won't need any moongels on these:) they cut down on that ringy aftertone really good.
The rest is in how you tune them.

I go back and fourth between coated and clear all the time because I like
the various strengths in both but I am sold on emperors...great heads
and they can really take a beating - not sure what it was with the ec2's but I had dents in them a month after putting 'em on...had the emperors on twice as long and no dents at all

Maybe evans uses a softer mylar or something

Thanks again ill go look into them, im trying to get away from those stock nasty UT heads they pack with the kits.

Probibly yeah, stick marks galore on my floor tom and that oily marks from light hitting the head on the rack tom is all I see when Im sitting at the kit. The curse of being a perfectionist I suppose haha

I have loved the look of these drums ever since they came out. Great kit, I would say an ec reso head would be too much, I would just go with a two ply clear reso.

Thanks for the advice, might try a EC reso on the floor tom (which requires the most dampening) and a 2 ply reso for the rack tom to see if the EC reso is too much or what im looking for.
