Hello guys. I wanted to talk a bit about this snare drum before I sell it. According to the serial number, it is a mid sixties Gretsch 4160 Chromer over Brass snare drum in 14x5". Looks great for its age and sounds super. I know what they sell for new, but this thing is in original condition besides new heads and new strainer. If you guys have any input, let me know what you think. Thanks.

The new strainer devalues the drum in terms of collectibility. It will always be a "player", not a showpiece. Worth a couple hundred or so, not more than $500 I'd bet. COB snares are nice, but you'll see more demand for 60s Gretsch drums that have a sparkle finish (champagne, anniversary, merlot) that would be good matches for kits without a snare. If your 60s snare is "cadillac green", you've got a real rarity!
