Pinky finger in the push pull

I've noticed that some drummers have their pinky touching the stick for the push pull (which they use to help 'pull' in the stick for their second stroke) and some drummers don't (so they use mainly their ring and middle to pull). Is one of these particularly bad or is it just a matter of personal preference (I can do both, but I find that taking away the pinky allows my stick to get more bounce and more power).

He's a fine hand technician and so much of what he says with respect to arm/hand/wrist/finger motion as well as general technique and stick control just makes perfect sense. He's also a member here and it's worth doing a search and checking out some of his previous thoughts on this type of thing. Who knows, he might even chime in with some more specific thoughts for you.
