Beauty of a kit. Are the floor toms made of different wood or does it just appear that way in the photos?
All Reference floor toms are made with plies of maple and mohogany. This gives them major low end BOOM! ;-) The Reference rack toms are all made with plies of maple and birch. This offers the combination of nice, full body with a bit of additional projection and attack.

The side snare I use is a 14x5.5 Yamaha Maple Custom. Good eye!)
the reflective light does make it look heavenly.

and why the gold record???
Holy crap dude, what a beautiful sight to behold. You've got more pedals than a church organ!
Really beautiful kit, finish, everything.
Let's hear them!

PS what's the deal w/ the gold record on the wall? Tell tell!

Regarding the gold record. I didn't notice it when I took the picture. It's been on my wall for years, now, and I just don't pay much attention to it. It is not a RIAA certified record, as the release was over seas - not here in America. This is a token directly from the major label folks (and possibly our management company - I really don't know the whole story. Lame, but true), back when my band was signed in the 90's. I won't name the band, as it's unimportant now and feels like 5 lifetimes ago, but we had a brief 15 minutes of fame 'back-in-the-day', and I'm now content with it remaining in the past.)

Truly a beauty of a kit to behold.

I believe that the gold hardware absolutely compliments the Wine Red finish.
(It's always cool to run into other PDF Members on here.)

Holy cow, what insane drum porn.

*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip*fwip

I've seen a few kits with gold hardware, but never a monster set like this. I like your innovative use of pedals on the floor toms. As someone else noted, the gold really complements the red of the drums. Just jaw-dropping.

Love this kit, my compliments to you drummeric!

I too was not a fan of pearl drums until I got my Masterworks kit, now I am a fan for life. By the way my kit is red with gold hardware also, but mine is MUCH smaller. lol

You sure your not Todd Sucherman, this looks like a kit he would put together.

Thanks for the sweet drum porn.

Mike

Funny you should mention that......

Here's a Ref/Red Wine I put together for a Canadian Clinic run and some shows with Lawrence Gowan in Canada. Hope the pics turn up.....

Another sweet pearl, thanks Todd.

The problem is i'm starting to have serious thoughts about buying a big Masterworks kit. The real problem is a kit like this is kinda hard to hide from my wife.

Gold, its not just for the women anymore!!!

Todd, your kits always look incredible. When Derek originally posted your new kit over on the PDF, I thought I was looking at my own! (with a few obvious exceptions aside ;-) Can't wait to see what the new Masterworks kit you were telling me about (with that new 'little drum') will look like. Your finish combinations are always very classy.

I didn't originally want a gold ICON rack, as I thought it might take too much attention away from the beautiful wine red finish on the drums...but now, I think I'm going to. I have a friend making a clamp for me that will allow connecting the bars in a straight horizontal line. The only reason I don't currently have an ICON, is because I don't like the look of uneven bars across the front, and I also never cared for the look of the connector bar with two rack legs only inches apart. It just becomes too much, and visually overpowers the rest of the kit.

First kit: WOW, that's gorgeous! I wasn't a Pearl fan, like many people, it seems, until I actually bought a Pearl kit, but I think I'm hooked for life. Great quality and fantastic sound! Not to mention, your kit looks completely (pardon the uncouth phrase) jizzworthy! I guess the only thing remaining is totally gold pedals, a la Neil Peart's 9000s. Overkill, yes, but cool nonetheless.

Then Todd comes along and almost one-ups drummeric's kit. Although, I do see some pretty obvious similarities in a couple of the pictures that look a lot like Todd Sucherman's setup...

Awesome!
