Movies that Feature Drumming

Zachariah a psychedelic western from 1971 featuring the one and only Elvin Jones killing as a gun slinger, solo starts @ 3:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH1UumsiFUE The movie also features the James Gang with Jim Fox. Pretty funny how Jim's Ludwigs become Gretsch when Elvin sits in. Some controversy about Elvin's solo, apparently the audio was lost and Earl Palmer ghost drummed it, still sounds like Elvin to me.. http://houseofdrumming.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=25121&sid=2f02a880fbd7e4a11d158f03e248dc05

If I am not mistaken Ginger Baker was originally scheduled to play this part but became unavailable - and they asked around for who was the best drummer in the world to replace him - hence Elvin. At least that is my memory of it.

The Commitments.
Though not a straight-up drumming film, it is a must for any musician with band aspiration or participation. Good tunes, good script, good acting.
And I do love the charicitures of each drummer in the band. Just good sport, if not more.
Highly recommended.
8^)
