Hey BradStarr66 - you have the original version of the kit I bought last year! I got the Ludwig Legacy Liverpool 4 kit - same sizes & color as yours. While it came with a Jazz Festival snare, I usually use my Black Beauty.

Here's a few pics:

Went on a cymbal diet and have been testing a non-ported kick. I love my Ludwigs!

The boom stand that goes out of the pic is for overhead mics.

I've recently gone back to an unported 22x14 kick - and I am really liking the sound. Just use a felt strip on the reso and using an Aquarian Super Kick I for the batter.

How are you liking the unported sound?

I love it. The low end is so much better. Since upgrading to the Legacy drums the kick sound has tidied up a lot too.

My 1964 Ludwig Downbeat in one of it's many configurations, the "Hollywood" twin 12" clone using modern hardware. I have ALL of the original stands and hardware, and also rack mount occasionally. In front are a few Ludwig snares, including a rare 1978 6.5x14 Acrolite with original Imperial lugs.

My 2005 Ludwig Maple Classic "The Green Monster"

Got this Wed, the magic is working. I can not stop thinking about this thing, my first good snare. It sounds amazing, i like looking at it as much as playing it.
