Your Favourite Band That is Not Well Known

This is for those of you who like to find new music to listen to.

To start it off, mine is Hey Rosetta!, from Newfoundland, Canada. The band has two guitars, bass, drums, violin and cello. They have two albums out, Plan Your Escape, and Into Your Heart. My favorite songs are "Red Heart" and "There's an Arc".

I'm interested to hear little known bands.

Allot of the bands I like are Christian artists so in most cases not well known with maybe the exception of switchfoot and mercy me. Right now my FAVORITE band is Fireflight, they just flat out know how to play and bring it! Excellent vocals, in your face guitars and bass and good driving drums!

Happy The Man, too bad the sound quality of the master tapes seems to be lacking.

James Gang- "James gang BANG" album- 1st release without Joe Walsh, hands down.
Uriah Heep "Demons and Wizards" would rate second.
J. Geils "Full House" album, since I play harp, too, and can do ALL the harp (and drum) parts to all songs. (listen to "Whammer Jammer", and try and tell me there is a better rockin' harp solo ANYWHERE)

Cheers,
C. P.

Friend of mine from Indiana recommended Fireflight to me about a year ago. Love their work, great vocals.

My contribution to this is Cromwell from LA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgZmhSZESrI

Lord Tracy. An 80s rock band that just made its way back to my memory lately.

There is a prog-y rock band out of Austria that I love called Dead Soul Tribe.
(I'm not sure why their myspace page say Florida).

There is band who are well known in Sweeden and around Europe but pretty much unknown in the USA, Katatonia, who mix bits of metal, prog, with a dark ambiance almost like a harder and darker Pink Floyd. http://www.myspace.com/katatonia

For Metal, I love Before the Dawn, who are well regarded in their native Finland, but not so much anywhere else:

Out of Los Angeles there is band starting to make a name for themselves. I saw them open for Lacuna Coil and they blew me away, kind of mixing darker 80's material with a bit of a modern edge, called Dommin

I was going to recommend a band out of New York called Tearwave for those who like something mellow and lush, but apparently their website and myspace pages are no more. :-(

For something more new wave and dance-y, but very cool, check out The Last Dance

www.twotonshoe.com .

Murderous bar band out of Boston. They are huge in Massachusetts and Korea ( Figure that one out in your free time.. )

Their first drummer was Dave DiCenso, the monster player who also teaches at Berklee, who has played on most of the tracks so far. Check em out.

Hazmat Modine! Great folk/blues out of New York, they write great songs and have stunning live shows, but apparently people haven't found them en masse yet.

Indeed, Hey Rosetta! a great band.

Toronto's "Make Your Exit" (http://www.myspace.com/makeyourexit), check out "Kids".

Two cow garage
i got their album "speaking in cursive" ages ago from the surburban records free download code christmas special haha, only listened to it today. its pretty good, not exactly my style but i can see how other people can realy get into them!

My Dear Disco is a band from my town, Ann Arbor, MI. They play a mix of electronic and live music that is accessible enough without being dumb. They strike a perfect balance to me. They just found out recently that they will be performing at Lollapalooza this year, and I think it is safe to say that they are on their way to becoming big.

Another band from my hometown that is not as well-known but still tours all around the country is the Macpodz, guitarless quintet that plays a danceable kind of fusion with the occasional Latin-inflected rhythm or melody. Their bassist is also a complete virtuoso. I've seen them live three times and I have been floored each time by his technical skill, as well as those of his bandmates.I love these guys. Check them out!

You can hear the music immediately when you check out their website: www.themacpodz.com
