I'm a traditional drum set lifer, but I also play hand drums (conga, bongo, djembe, etc) ... and I'm looking to pick up a cajon. I love the drum.
There are so many "name brand" cajons out there, but there are also a lot of custom shops and people who say the headliners (Meinl, Pearl, etc) make a crappy product. I'd like to find a versatile cajon that sounds good on its own, and mic'ed up. Something crisp with great natural bass.
What do you play? What has impressed you? What should I stay away from?
