I have a PDP CX from 03 and it was in perfect shape when I took it out of the boxes. All the shells round and bearing egdes neat. With no lug problems and all the hardware intact I've never been concerned even amongst all the posts of quality control mentions from other members.
I'm assuming I can get the new black on black larger shell set soon and wrestle out any issues if something's wrong with them when I finally pick them up.
I guess the other issue I have is... ...is it really worth to get birch drums? I've thought that I want one, but I am sort of stuck on my maple and mahogany drums.
Do you feel like the sound is strong or is it maybe thin or weak underneath you when you play? I've liked the cutting attack of my maples that I play most of the time and I haven't played many birch kits to compare.
