Its been nearly ten years now since I had this kit made, and although Ive gigged it regularly, Ive always kept it in as prestige a condition as possible

I took a few shots of it last night (will use a tripod next time!) and thought Id share with those I know will appreciate them too :)

...beautiful drums...do your designer maple light shells have reinforcement rings?...the original designers (circa mid-90s to early 2000s) did not have that option...sound?...

Beautiful kit! You've kept them looking showroom new! I'm impressed.

When these drums came out, I was lucky enough to meet the president of Sonor who came to Hollywood to visit Pro Drum while I was there picking up a custom bass drum Stan built for me. He liked it and proceeded to show me this new Designer series. Stunning drums and engineering with a price tag that would just keep me away. You have a very nice kit there!

Matt, was that Horst Link?

I met him when he and Deen Castronovo toured here to promote the release of the Designer series in, oooh it would have been around 93, I think.

I also was lucky enough to spend some time with Karl Heinz Menzel when he came here to launch the SQ2 series. I took him to my house to see the kit, and he said he remembered seeing it being built. We had coffee and he fell in love with my cat.

True story :)

I think I met Karl. He gave me his card and said if I was ever in his neck of the woods to call him and he'd give me a tour of the factory. I've yet to make it to Europe!

Whouaaa love the finish ! The vertical grain helps a lot for it
The lugs are very great too
I keep on prefering the global hardware on Designer series over SQ2

Nice kit man !

I love everything about this kit, that would be a keeper in my stable of kits.
I especially like those bass drum tensioners, very slick. Wouldn't mind finding some sets of those, I bet buying from them through Sonor I would need some financing though. Great design concept though since normally you don't need huge torque to tune a bass drum, and there is always something in the way of the traditional T-rods when tuning, either a pedal of a tom.
